This is the blog of David Raikow, Ph.D., an Ecologist for the National Park Service. I’ll share tips on scientific writing and job searching for scientists. “River Continua” refers to the River Continuum Concept (RCC), by Vannote et al. 1980. It’s an ecological theorem that aims to explain why particular communities of benthic macroinvertebrates (bugs) occur at different parts of a watershed, from small streams in forested headwaters to large open rivers.
